Iron & Resin Fall 2013 Lookbook Video

Es soll ja Leute geben, die so denken wie ich: Winter gerne, aber zeitlich beschränkt auf den 23.-26.12. und zwei ausgewählte Weihnachtsmarktbesuche. Dann gerne über Nacht wegtauen ohne Schneematsch und pünktlich zum neuen Jahr Frühling einläuten mit zweistelligen Temperaturen und Sonne. Danke.

Ist dieses Jahr zwar nah dran aber irgendwie trotzdem nicht so das Wahre alles. Zum seelischen Aufwärmen empfehle ich Heizung auf 5 und folgendes Video reinwerfen: Das Lookbook der Bikerschmiede/Surfershop/Fashiondings Iron & Resin. Boston - Sunrise and Freedom Trail

What a difference to Philadelphia! Boston really shows it's beauty. The city is very clean, a lot of young people are walking around. The buildings have a nice mixture of old and modern. I really feel comfortable here. Maybe I should apply at the MIT :-D

Philadelphia - Independence Hall and Stuff

Okay, Philadelphia, what should I say. According to a lot of websites Philli is a quiet dangerous city (e.g. www.virtualtourist.com). We should not go too far south, not too far north, just stay right in the middle. That is pretty much what we have done and I am pretty sure that outside of the "middle" of Philadelphia there is not much to discover.

So today we had a long walk and explored everything we could. Because of Christmas almost every shop, museum or memorial was closed. Except... yep.. McDonald's.. AND they had 1USD Chicken Burger.. how could we resist :-/

Philadelphia - Christmas Eve

Merry Christmas! 24th December ... again! 

Today it is the 4th day of the Christmas trip. We arrived at Philadelphia at 1:30 pm and just had a Skype call to our beloved family in the beautiful decorated (joke!) 30th Street Station in Philadelphia. So far the Skyline looks old and a kind of ruinous condition.. But since now we haven't seen the real city, so let's see how it will look like.

Christmas Trip - 3 - Washington

This is the third and last day in Washington DC. I think we pretty much have seen all one can see, except some Museums. Actually, Washington itself seems to be a big Museum. Almost every building is a very important political building, or a memorial. Even bridges and simple walks are named after important persons to remind us what they did for the United States of America...

Today we tried to ...

• see the Pentagon and take a photo (from far far away) ((without being arrested))
• visit the Arlington National Cemetery (and walk around it) 
• eat something other than burger (we didn't achieve that one)
• visit the National Gallery of Art (without being reminded, that we have to be 1 foot away from the paintings!)

The Pentagon... finally. After we left the metro southeast of the Pentagon, which we haven't recognized in the beginning, we had to walk all around the south side of it to get to the 09/11 Memorial. Even until here we were not allowed to take photos, which was clearly said by a police officer and we haven't taken any pictures at all in the near of the building. It was one big building with a lot of windows. And you would not even have seen that it is a pentagon and not a regular shaped building. Here, a couple of hundreds of meters away, I considered the Pentagon being far away enough to see it as a normal building in the landscape of Washington. In the left front you can see a tent, behind that there is the 09/11 Memorial. All the parking lots around the Pentagon were pretty empty. I guess most of the employees are on Christmas vacation right now.

Christmas Trip - 2 - Washington

Second day in Washington. Chinatown, Downtown, White House, Washington Monument, WW2 Memorial, Squirrel, Lincoln Memorial, Air and Space Museum.. a busy but a very good day!

To get to Downtown we had to cross Chinatown, which is just a couple streets long and not much to discover.

Christmas Trip - 1 - Washington

After 17 hours by bus, with a 2 h delay at the US Customs and 1 delay due to a heavy accident on the highway, we finally arrived in Washington DC. Lucky us, we got a cheap room (20 USD/d) in the quite good "Washington Court Hotel"

Position of our Hotel. The large green area is the Washington Mall. On the right you will find the Capitol, on the top left is the White house and all along the side there are the Smithonian Museums. All free and well known.

Action Glue

Airton Cozzolino steht in diesem Video auf diversen Brettern, surfen, wakeboarden, wakesurfen und kurz auch mal mit nem Paddel am Mann, so richtig unwohl scheint er sich auf keinem zu fühlen, aber nach Zeitanteilen steht wakesurfen ganz oben auf der Liste. Geht gut ab der Mann und die Kameramänner scheinen auch ihren Job zu verstehen, die Aufnahmen sind richtig edel!

No matter what kind of board Airton has under his feet, they all seem to stick there as glued. Get ready for insane strapless action in the first Airton Cozzolino feature clip ever.

360° Panorama - Android Photo Sphere

Yeah! After 4,5 months of stress free time without my Galaxy Nexus, I finally got it back and have again something  to waste some time on :-D

With the update to Android 4.1 Google's Photo Sphere was introduced. I just tried it inside yet, but handheld it is a little tricky. So what I did was that I used a rubber band and my DSLR and put the phone on the back of my camera. Than I mounted the camera on my tripod an shot this beautiful view (1 m above ground) from my current living room in Waterloo, Canada.

This is just the first shot, but it gives an idea of how it looks here. But I will definitively go around and shoot
some more.

Of course I could do that with my DSLR and a panorama software (like Hugin I use that for all my panoramas! Definitely worth a try!) But it is SO much easier to just use the phone. And I am pretty sure that the quality will increase when I am outside. Firstly because of the better light conditions but secondly because all the objects will be far away.

BMW M1: Iconic supercar driven - XCAR

Der BMW M1 begründete die gesamte M-Division von BMW. Die Geschichte ist dagegen eher tragisch: BMW wollte in diversen Rennserien mitfahren und ließ Lamborghini ein Auto dafür entwerfen.
Pünktlich zur Fertigstellung des M1 wurden die Regeln erneut geändert, so dass BMW nochmal nachbessern musste, der M1 für Privatleute war daher eigentlich eine Art Abfallprodukt und wurde nur 460-mal verkauft.

In seinem Film White Noise spricht Xavier de Le Rue, seines Zeichens Big Mountain Rider, über seine Motivation immer wieder an seine Limits zu gehen, darüber dass die einfach zu habenden Dinge uninteressant sind und warum Boarden seine Bestimmung ist.
Der Anfang in schwarz-weiß ist einfach nur krass!

Datsun 240z Turbo

Die Liebesgeschichte die hier nebenbei transportiert wird, kann man sich von mir aus auch schenken, zumal die Argumente auf kasachisch oder was wir da hören, eh nicht verständlich sind.
International dagegen die Sprache des 240z Turbo, ein Traum! Man guckt es so weg...

Brett Novak: Obrigado Portugal

Der Filmemacher Brett Novak lässt sich in Obrigado Portugal mal auf dem Brett filmen, starke Bilder gepaart mit Tricks, die man sich trotz der Zeitlupe nochmal angucken muss.
Die Location ist edel, anständig Sonne, während hier Schneematsch regiert, dazu den Soundtrack: Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings mit Mama don't like my man.

With a messed up knee I somehow ended up being the film subject - a strange feeling being on the other side of the camera.

The Real Thing

The Real Thing befasst sich mit einem offensichtlichen Lieblingsthema meinerseits: PS-starke Oldtimer. Auch wenn ich den Mustang immer sehr gewöhnlich fand und eher den Charger aus Bullitt bevorzugen würde, wenn ich die Wahl und die Scheine (daran mangelt es doch irgendwie immer) hätte, was die Jungs um Bodie Stroud aus dem 69er Boss Mustang machen, ist der pure Wahnsinn.

Zunächst kommt bis auf die Karosserie quasi alles auf den Schrott, diese wird modifiziert, dann auf ein neues Chassis gesetzt (checkt die Reifen, da weiß man, dass da kein 1.4 Liter Diesel reinkommt) und dann kommt das Sahnehäubchen: Ein aus dem Rennsport kommender Motor (gefertigt für Mario Andretti), auch aus dem Jahr 69, mit nur zehn gefertigten Exemplaren eine Seltenheit und 777 PS auch etwas Vortrieb.

Rise

Tom van Steenbergen gibt ordentlich Kit auf seinem Dirtbike und zeigt ein paar sehr edle Backflip-Kombination, bei denen er von Harrison Mendel gefilmt wird. Und die Aufnahmen sind einfach nur edel, auf jeden Fall in HD gucken, den Streifen!

Unterlegt ist das ganze mit Stardust - Minnesota.

Bugatti Head of Design's Personal 911 Project - DRIVEN

Achim Anscheidt, seines Zeichens Designbeauftragter der kleinen Autoschmiede Bugatti hat eine recht spezielle, aber sehr interessante Vorstellung eines guten 911er.
Sein Porsche basiert auf einer 81er SE Karosserie, bei der dann die Panels, wie Haube, Türen usw. durch Kevlar ersetzt wurden (eine höchst dehnbare Polymerfaser, scheint ich lerne doch was). Das in Verbindung mit dem Fehlen eines Lüfters und dem ausgeräumten Innenraum bringt das Fahrzeug auf etwas über 800kg.

Er vergleicht die Arbeit an seinem Porsche mit einem Fixie, etwas eigenes bauen, konzentrieren auf das weglassen und das ist ihm auf jeden Fall gelungen!
